Evaluating WebQuest.org

WebQuest.org provides an authentic, technology based environment for inquiry based problem solving and collaboration among students and educators. This website has a simple and basic design with, but it navigates easily and loads quickly. On the left side bar you can see seven tabs that help you navigate through the website. These tabs include Home, find WebQuests, Create WebQuests, Community, Research, and News. You can locate the website creator name Bernie Dodge and his e-mail address at bottom of this list. The latest news on the website is dated August 9, 2007 which is about a year old. On the find WebQuests page you can use the search engine to search San Diego State University database for WebQuests by string of characters, title, description, and author’s name and URL. Another search engine on bottom of the pages allows to search by curriculum and grade level matrix. According to this webpage, over 2500 WebQuests are available on this website. Creating the WebQuests page will takes you through the steps of creating your own WebQuests project. Every lesson is created includes Introduction, Task, Process , Evaluation , Conclusion, Credits, Teacher Page. The resources webpage gives you information about the mind behind the WebQuests and important definitions that you must know, and it offers many sample lessons to get you started and gives you ideas. Community page allows educators to communicate and collaborate though a blog. Research takes you to a Google page. Some are the links to the sample lesson weren’t working. Website doesn’t seem to be well kept up to date, but
according to Rina Kundu& Christina Bain,” The WebQuest page (Dodge, 1998), Located at http://webquest.sdsu.edu/, and receives 1,700 hits a day.”( Rina Kundu& Christina Bain, 2006) Many educators have used this useful website in the past, and it continues to be a reliable resource for educators. Using this website allows educators to use internet in their classroom, and it is an inquiry-based approach to learning that involves students in a wide range from kinder to adults.
